It’s not the first time, I am sure it won’t be the last. Who else would one have 6am conversation’s with about upholstery, equipment and movement other than another Pilates Teacher.

During the 2.5 years of COVID, I worked quite a bit with Christina Gadar virtually and was inspired by her love of the Pilates archives and Joseph Pilates Slant Board,  and made a purchase to work on a modern-day version of the slant board using the Juvo Board.

The slant is a little steeper, thus the work is a little tougher; if you know me, that is my mantra….give me the tough stuff! I have loved my morning wakeups on the board and won’t stop using it for stretching, rolling, balance and splits. Whether it be Pilates, Yoga, or resistance training, healthy movement is what I enjoy and like a good bicycle, the board is just a tool to exact that movement from my body.

Cary Sadler, Rivercity Pilates,  is not the first person to notice or comment on the Slant board. There have been a few former students and other movement teachers that have noticed my joy with the board.

So, I was delighted to find Cary’s message this morning.

As you can see, she asked about the upholstery on my Juvo Board; as she noticed it matched the rest of my studio equipment.

I reupholstered most of the pieces of equipment in my space. I learned a long time ago how to use my hands and love doing it.

As movement teachers, independent business owners and all around jack-of-all-trades, we wear a lot of hats and are not uncomfortable with a hammer and screwdriver. Or maybe a staple gun, in this case.
