The end of August and that temperature has climbed to the high point that I don’t even consider going to the pool during the mid-day. Today I bought a few melons with the intent of eating them, juicing them and mixing them up for nibbles. I doctored a HoneyDew Melon Sorbet recipe – with a splash of St. Germain and honey and fell in love!
I bought a cantaloupe, mini-watermelon, lemondrop melon, and a honeydew melon and dove straight into juicing the cantaloupe with a little lime and honey and followed that that up with what I think is a very creative adaptation of another blogger’s recipe for the quickest, easiest dessert I intend to enjoy after teaching classes this evening (or any evening forthcoming – truth be told!)
I simply replaced her use agave nectar with honey and her use of vodka with my favorite liqueur, St. Germain, which is a French liqueur flavored with elderflowers, and the best splash one can add to a glass of wine, champagne and now HoneyDew Melon sorbet.
The other small change I made to the recipe is to use my Vitamix to blend the frozen melon balls and added a few pinches of mint leaves.
Perfect. Complete. Delicious. And oh, so good gracious divine for the summer.
