Whoa! Proud to say the studio has covered a lot of ground in the last 365 days! September 25th marked the anniversary date of opening the studio officially. The studio classes were completely full for the entire weekend and all were excited about sweating and breathing and moving with Pilates!
One thing this year has taught me to remember, is the serenity prayer. There are a lot of things outside of our control and a few critical pieces well within our reach. A plaque with the prayer hung on my mother’s kitchen wall, for years. It was under the calendar and thus visible everyday.
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.”
It comes to mind now, on the studio’s First Year Anniversary, for in the midst of a debilitating recession, layoffs, bank and business closures, unprecedented hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes, not to mention week-long power outages, landlord bankruptcies, (all the things we could not change or affect) I have had the honor, joy and delight of helping far more people than I could have ever imagined, move forward with changing their bodies, using their breath and finding ease in physical movement for the sake of their life, health and fitness.
Yes, we all needed a little courage. I am grateful for spending this year with each one as we continue to grow older and wiser.
