The vividness of the color changes, the resolute acknowledgement of another year under my belt, and the reality that an incredibly smart, vibrant and powerful woman will be voted President in less than four days, brings me to setting a focus on “keeping it real and authentic” as a categorical way of writing and thinking for the year ahead. #TruthSpeak
What does that mean? How will it manifest itself in the year going forward? Why is this different than in the years past?
It may not necessarily be different, but I am going on record that it will be more consistently resolute. I know that I live, work and teach with an authentic spirit, heart and mind. It’s evidenced in my walk on this earth; it’s the way I was raised by my parents; it’s what I expect in the exchange from others and therefore what I seek to give. So, I therefore, apologize in advance for being a little tougher on a few more – going forward – than I may have been in the past.
Patterns & Rhythms. It’s all about the repeat of the pattern. There’s a rhythm and pattern to the way our lives move and progress. Sometimes the rhthym gets static and monotounous. Boring or rote. It needs to be shaken. The pattern needs a shift, a beat change to keep the flow. Some people challenge themselves for 7, 28 or 30 days to do something new or different. We build habits with the patterns we follow. We seek to repeat the desired activities for a consecutive number of days allowing the brain and body lay in a new pathway; a new pattern of moving and living.
Then unfortunately, if we haven’t fully owned the work, the next current, energy or wave of motion throws us back to the old way of experience.
Authenticity. When its authentic, true and real, its repeatable. It’s not a fluke. This is true of the movements made with a strong, centered body and the actions seen in their delivery. It’s true with the innate feeling one has when you meet another “tribe member.” Truth resonates deep and can be felt on the inside without a word being uttered.
The vividness of truth and authenticity are undeniable. You either like it or you don’t. You either repeat it or you can’t. You either own it as yours and make it a part of your experience and expression or mock and model another in the doing.
If your movement and living are centered and authentic, it can withstand an energy or current change. We will flow with the wave rather than being knocked over by it.
Since I’m much too old to fake the funk, I am resolutely walking strong, tall and loudly going forward. Not necessarily “different” from the past. Simply clearer about my flow, rhythmic expression and all the “thang” in it. #TruthSpeak
