We are all working on something. Now that the first full week of my 45-day plan is complete. I want to come clean on why I built this 45-day plan to lose a few extra pounds and tighten and tone my frame.
Coming Clean
First, let me come clean with the fact, that getting thru the week – doing something every day – was definitely not as hard as mom’s have delivering a baby and trying to jump back into their pre-natal body and mindset. It was not as hard as it may be for someone starting/returning to a fitness-focused regime after being cut and stitched back together after a surgical procedure.
I definitely ran out of steam toward the tail end of the week. I know if I had not laid out the plan and committed in advance to a) partner sessions, b) slot in a room, c) pre-paid class session, it would have been very easy to rationalize skipping a day.
The need for preparation and commitment are obvious. The rigor of my planned work may not be appropriate for you or everybody; making a plan and finishing it is the key.
I am proud of what happened during the week and know myself enough to know where the “push” is imperative and where “easing up” will be welcome. Again, finishing the task is the key to the process.
Second, let me come clean with why I am doing this anyway. I leave for Morocco in mid-May. and I intend to lose the 10 extra pounds by May 1st.
Scared myself in January with the depth of building and co-leading an international excursion to a place I hadn’t personally experienced, i.e., Morocco that I was planning for September. The plan was crafted, location booked and I privately invited 20 others to join me, but stopped the process at the 11th hour of the planned public announcement about two months ago.
I woke up one morning and realized I needed to stay in my lane and follow the co-leader, for a bit longer. Returned the funds of the two brave souls that jumped at the idea to follow my lead and tucked my tail and retreated.
In her gracious, loving and considerate way, Anayra fluffed it off and invited me to join her for the Yoga Retreat with another yoga teacher, Maureen Taylor, as a participant instead of co-leader, in May.
So, that’s what’s up!
Third thing, I need to come clean with is my belief and acknowledgement that there are no mistakes. We may not know the reason at the time, but everything has a reason and a purpose.
Thank you for helping to facilitate such a gift, Anayra. Truly.
I feel so washed in peace.
In October 2022, I was thoroughly enthralled in Egypt with Anayra and am grateful that I am traveling with her in May. I want these extra 10 lbs gone so I can comfortably and easily kick up into an OG #WildThing back-bend 2x daily, following the lead of these two yogi-queens with grace and gentle ease.
Lastly, I am clearly excited and thrilled that a few friends, colleagues and students are also inspired to join me, living out loud, in their own #PersonalTrainingPlan….all of us are cross-training our minds, bodies and emotions in the process.
