Who knows how it happened, when or why it occurred!? But darn it! I jammed my shoulder, yet again, and ended up kicking myself for taking just a little too long to seek out the needed myofascia massage therapy that allowed me to get back into action.
It will probably be a chronic injury for me since the bike accident 18 months ago. It is my dominant arm for all actions; used for spotting clients, picking up the tea pot, moving the equipment, springs etc. One way or another I made a move that compressed on the nerve and limited my range of motion greatly. So I rolled the shoulder out with a ball, walked around for a few days with a portable stem buzzing away on the nerve while I taught until I was reminded by a client (former massage therapist himself) that a little “hands-on” massage would release the knots I was holding.
I knew where the trigger point was, I just couldn’t manipulate it myself. I booked a massage session with FreedOM Therapeutics and sixty minutes later I was back to business. Full range of motion was returned and these two respective videos (below) of my actual workouts were performed the very next day.
Many thanks to master teachers #CaryRegan and @bhpilates originally and more recently @kathirossnash through @pilatesology for this delicious shoulder opening sequence with the #GondolaBar. It’s my new morning “shoulder medicine” routine.
