It wasn’t the plan. Yet when it comes to you as easily as this gift of change has, it’s best to get out of the way and follow the flow. That is what is happening after fifteen years in one space.
I actually started my Pilates Movement space in an apartment, as many of us do; enjoyed the commercial studio space for eight years and then, two years before the pandemic, I stopped offering TRX classes and consolidated my efforts to exclusively offer Pilates training and moved everything back into my Living Room movement space.
Bought and picked up the third Pilates Designs upholstered mat in March 2020 just prior to NYC lockdown and we all transitioned to virtual teaching/training. I have not had four or five bodies in my space since and that mat has not been used during a mat class yet.
Refresh. Renew. ReGroup.
That is about to change! There will be much more space, more light and more refreshing ways to renew and regroup with Classical Pilates movement.
The one thing I hated most about the commercial space was the absence of light, as there were no windows. It is one of the reasons I so quickly and fully embraced moving outside during the pandemic; as moving in the elements of the earth, air and sunlight are, in my opinion, one of the best ways for exercise. The most refreshing renewal of body, breath and spirit occur in the elements of nature.
I wouldn’t have selected the color pale blue for the walls, yet, the peacefulness of the sky above and the reflected water below will remain on the walls. Of course, the #GhostMirror I created during the lockdown has even more meaning now.
It almost seems like that blue filter I started using on all my social media posts during the pandemic was a precursor of what was to come.
My life-long guidepost elements of light, color, space, scent and the universal power of the number three are revealing where, what and how they are to be situated going forward. Beyond excited for the next steps and regrouping fully with my Pilates4Fitness Community!
