Energy work with Reiki. I admit, I didn’t know what to expect but I trusted it as an alternative and followed my heart. I let go and relaxed allowing someone else to move me to places I had not been and to experience something I knew little about.I acknowledged that feeling as I laid on the table in a comfortable space created expressly for this purpose, that it was not too different from what my students feel as Beginner’s in a mat class or on the Reformer. There’s a required level of trusting to find and feel something new and different.
I found Betty Daniel, an amazing spirit and gifted Reiki-energy healer and body worker, through a friend last year at a party and ran into her post-election at a fund-raiser for an animal shelter. Neither of us have pets, but both of us work with bodies, minds and spirits and apparantely in such a way that exploring a new connection was meant to be intentional.
All of New York was in a state of shock and disbelief and in need of connections that were familiar, safe and supportive. Betty was auctioning two sessions to support the animal center and I jumped at the chance to explore the energy healing work without any expectations.
What the heck is Reiki anyway? But then I also didn’t know what or why acupuncture works on my body either. Or why myofacia massage, in all is subtleness, is so much more impactful than deep-tissue massage.
In all instances, the control in me has to let go and allow the gifts, abilities and techniques of the other person to take oover. Leaving the questions of how, why and what at the door.
I was aware of the physical, emotional and psyche energy changes around me post election. After my first session with Betty I left feeling relaxed and normal; a peaceful easy way to re-center myself. Yet no particular AHa! or significant noticeable spark to lead or draw me back. Particularly since I am such an active, physically present being, slowing me down to meditative, quiet relaxation is –#Truthspeak coming here — damn terribly hard to do! Yet, within seconds of lying down on her table, I was out like a light. I was putty. I could hear myself snoring.
I looked at the last SuperMoon of the year, which occurred Tues, December 13th, as a new opportunity to align some thoughts, plans and ideas for the next cycle and year. We all want to take a fresh start and enlightened perspective into the new year and the energy of the full moon and the possiblity of new shifts and alignment caused me to follow up with Betty for the second session.
I spent the night before walking around “in a circle” on the 102nd floor of the World Trade Observatory taking pictures of the full moon with glee and joy and giddiness. As soon as I stopped being “lifted” with the joy of that experience and returned my focus to the work of grounded earth, I felt the weight in my feet. Painfully so, that on the walk back to the ferry I noticed that my feet in particular were feeling heavy, tight and leadened.
The next morning I booked the second session with Betty for the next day, and that is where the magic happened.
Through the process of releasing, moving and seemingly the extraction of useless, unwanted and ugly stagnant energy through my entire body I got off her table feeling light, lifted and lithe. My entire body, but especially my feet, felt like “feathers, unrestricted and absent of density.” I floated through the morning client sessions and was grateful for the #BettyReikiPower.
How’s the energy moving through your body and feet? Let me know if you would like a Reiki Energy session with Betty Daniel. I highly recommend her.
