Noticing the patterns of my life as I sit with coffee this morning. Every Nov/Dec I seem to start the planning cycle of things to come and edit the old files, notes and images.

I have a least three note apps and apparently so many things going on that the intended writing within those apps may or may not see the light of day. It’s not about the number of disparate apps, it’s the ideas that have been captured. The images taken to share with the words and thoughts that sit unseen.

Does that mean I need to slow down to catch things up? Or speed up my actions to meet my creative thoughts?

Today, I learned that a fitness colleague, an avid cyclist, racer, and trainer with the cleanest life and living died of cancer. Some shit just sneaks up on us, no matter what we do.

There have been numbers of occasions thru the years, I would flag him down at a light on River Road, mid afternoons, on his jaunt from Piermont to Jersey City just to say hi. The brothers on this route always stood out. There were only a few, and they usually rode in small groups. Sebaj was usually alone. One of the firsts; he was older (same age as me) and had been doing it a while.

Rest in peace, my brother.

RIP Kind Friend

So perhaps slowing down is not really the answer. Not for me, at least.

It’s pressing on that needs to happen. Doing what feels right and feels good. As much as we can, for as long as we can. And doing it with the people and community that share or are drawn to your interests, excitement, and creativity.

So, heads up, if you are reading this. I am going into brainstorming mode for 2024. I have a long list of things to do, places to go and people to do some stuff with.
