Republishing them here, so as not to lose the content from a now, very old, archived blog site.<\/p>\n<p>Two days were spent with other Pilates teachers, masters and instructors in the First Annual Power Pilates Teacher&#8217;s workshop; two days wonderfully jammed packed with eye opening, mouth watering, spine correcting details one could ask for &#8211; under $500.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4816\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4816\" style=\"width: 294px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-4816 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/elders-KathyLolita.jpg?resize=294%2C635\" alt=\"elders-Kathy&amp;Lolita\" width=\"294\" height=\"635\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4816\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">San Miguel and Grant<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The other workshop I had the pleasure of participating in this year (as part of my personal celebration of 50 years on earth and life changing or validating experiences) was with two people of significant importance to me &#8211; as a woman of color &#8211; in this industry.\u00a0 These women, Kathy Grant and Lolita San Miguel,\u00a0 were actually certified by Joseph Pilates in the 1960s.\u00a0 &#8220;The Elders Workshop&#8221; was presented by Alycea Ungaro of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realpilatesnyc.com\">www.realpilatesnyc.com.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lolita San Miguel and Kathy Grant along with Kathy Corey commanded the attention of more than 50 teachers for an afternoon of instruction and dialogue about Joe and &#8220;the Method.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Of course there are beautiful images of the work from the <a title=\"Power Pilates\" href=\"http:\/\/www.powerpilates.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Power Pilates<\/a> weekend with Susan Moran-Perich, Bob Liekens, Howard Sichel, Dana Eisenstein and Kathy Van Patten,\u00a0 posted below.\u00a0 But at this writing, I am sitting with a well earned glass of single malt scotch (or two in all honesty) crab cakes, salad and creme brule for dessert, blogging about the weekend.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6806\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6806\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/Carmen-and-Bob.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-6806 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/Carmen-and-Bob-300x206.jpg?resize=300%2C206\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"206\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6806\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Teacher and Student Engaged<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Both workshops validated my personal, organic experience and embrace of Pilates as a teacher and fitness professional and more importantly as a way of living.<\/p>\n<p>Some things come to you because you need them; some things, you are drawn to you for the lesson of the moment they provide. While others re-affirm past, current and future and the fit is instantly apparent, owned and embraced.<\/p>\n<p>The science, beauty and power of Pilates was the later for me and the true &#8220;maverick,&#8221; and creative, life-loving spirit of Joe Pilates, has made a full and all-encompassing change in my life.\u00a0 And therefore, I know, also on the lives of those I touch, coach and teach.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow
